ABDOMINAL HYSTERECTOMY

This information is for you if you are about to have, or you are recovering from, an abdominal hysterectomy – an operation to remove your uterus (womb) through a cut in your tummy.

ENDOMETRIAL ABLATION

This information is for you if you are about to have, or you are recovering from, an endometrial ablation. This is a type of operation to thin or remove your endometrium (the lining of the uterus (womb)) in an effort to treat heavy periods.

LAPAROSCOPIC HYSTERECTOMY

This information is for you if you are about to have, or you are recovering from, a laparoscopic hysterectomy – an operation to remove your uterus (womb) by keyhole surgery.

LAPAROSCOPY

This information is for you if you are about to have, or have had, a diagnostic laparoscopy and/or an operative laparoscopy where simple or intermediate procedures are performed.

PELVIC FLOOR REPAIR

This information is for you if you are about to have, or you are recovering from, an operation for a prolapse of your pelvic floor (when the sling of muscles that supports your bladder, bowel and vagina has slipped or descended).

SURGICAL MANAGEMENT OF MISCARRIAGE

This information is for you if you are about to have, or you are recovering from, an operation to empty your uterus (womb). This is done to take away a pregnancy if it has not developed or if the pregnancy tissue has not all come away as part of a miscarriage. The operation involves removing the pregnancy tissue from the uterus through the vagina.

VAGINAL HYSTERECTOMY

This information is for you if you are about to have, or you are recovering from, a vaginal hysterectomy – an operation to remove your uterus (womb) through your vagina.
